The Great Pause

I wish I could take credit for that name. I definitely was using the phrase “a pause in life” before I heard the phrase The Great Pause, and it is so exactly what is happening right now.

PAUSE

Life did it. Life hit the pause button big time! I could not have been at a more perfect time in my life.

The Glorification of Busy and the life we all are made to feel bad if we don’t have, was enough. I had had enough!!

Drive here. drive there, do this, take this kid here and that kid there, and if you don’t your kids in a million things then you are considered crazy. Meanwhile having your kids in all their crap is making us crazy!

If you have people pleasing tendencies than you have a hard time saying no to people asking you to do shit too so then that piles on to everything else you are overcommitted too. Forget any downtime! And I work really hard to schedule in downtime. YES-schedule downtime! Ridiculous I know.

So life said STOP!!!

When everything first shut down I felt relief. I know this is not how everyone may feel because we all were hit differently but this is my blog so I am going to tell you how I felt. I was relieved. All the crap I was driving everyone too was stopped. All the extra travel that wasn’t for a fun vacation, was stopped. Unfortunaltely the fun vacations were put to a stop too, but for the most part that will be ok. The excessive amount of money spent on gas driving everyone everywhere was stopped. I haven’t filled my gas tank in almost two months.

So much STOPPED.

But then new things STARTED.

We started having family dinner together every night of the week instead of just one night a week. We started spending more family time together walking, bike riding, and working on home improvement projects. We started cooking more meals at home since we had the time in the day now to do so. I started reevaluating what I am going to allow back in to our lives once life finds itself getting back to busy.

I am done with the busy BS. DONE

Life can be lived with a balance. And balance is something that is not perfect. It may lean more to one side than the other from time to time, but knowing your limits and want you truly want your life to look like can help you create life as you want it. Not as what others think it should be.

If you people please more than you take care of yourself and your life then who are you living for?

We get one life. One time to live life by your own design. Your heart has dreams that were put there for a reason. You get this pause in life right now to find out what.

Get quiet, let your thoughts float around, open you heart to your dreams, and see what lies within you.

Be ready to go after those dreams. Be ready to say no to the Glorification of Busy. Be ready to STOP doing crap you hate and START doing things you love.

The Great Pause has given us time. Let us not take it for granted.
