Body Shaming, I would never call someone fat so why should they call me skinny.
Yikes, what a title right?!?!
I want to be real with you though so here we go….
Yes I was a skinny kid. Naturally thin and a picky eater which I imagine had something to do with my staying thin. When you grow up in a house of mostly meat as the main dish and you hate meat it will keep your weight down.
Now you can be skinny and not be healthy. I ate way too much sugar and white bread and had terrible acid reflux most of my life. The size of your body does not determine your health. I repeat, the size of your body does not determine your health.
Many people I loved and looked up to my whole life were not the thinnest or most health people in the world, but your size also does not determine if you are a good person or not. Some of the ugliest on the inside people I have ever met are people who were a healthy size and were physically attractive. Once you know someones true character though, ugh. But that is another story for another time.
So why would being called skinny bother me?
Well why would you point out my size.
My size has nothing to do with my character.
My size has nothing to do with what I am capable of.
My size has nothing to do with how much I love and care for others.
I would NEVER go around and tell people how big or fat they are.
We all are doing our best to live each day and try to accomplish whatever it may be in our lives. Speaking to others of their size should not be a thing.
I do not know your struggles and unless you’ve been following me for awhile you do not know mine.
You do not know that yes I may have been a smaller size most of my life but that for years I felt like my insides were rotting. That I have had acid reflux, chronic sinusitis, acne, two pregnancies with weight gain of 32-42lbs, a miscarriage, a benign cyst in my breast, cysts that constantly rupture on my ovaries, and a body in such an acidic environment that my joints were starting to hurt as well, all by the age of 38.
IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT SIZE YOU ARE!
We all have health issues that can effect us no matter how big or small we are.
Imagine if I were to go around and start telling people what size they were or throwing a “You are so big” into a conversation with someone. It sounds absurd right?
Well people do it to me in the reverse ALL the time. I would much rather be told I was strong or healthy or a good person. Not “You are so skinny” in an insulting way. Yes it comes out as an insult.
My size, your size, it does not freaking matter.
Just be a good person and be healthy!
Be active, eat clean, and make the healthy choices so you can feel good.
Feel good about yourself and then turn around and go out into the world and do good.
That’s what the real focus should be about.
No body shaming.
Lets lift each other up and cheer each other on!
I’m in if you are, and I’m starting now.
